Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy

We at Change Hypnosis, have been using Hypnosis for the past 20 years to resolve clients’ psychological wounds and hurts. Unlike physical injuries, psychological wounds and hurts are not obvious or visible, but affect us in the form of depression or other psychosomatic illnesses. Hypnotherapy can help clients deal with fears, anxiety, stress and other psycho-somatic illnesses, and work towards peace and happiness.

Unlike the common perception, Hypnosis is a natural and normal state of consciousness – an altered state of awareness. We all have experienced Hypnosis from time to time, in which the mind remains clear, alert and focused on something.

Hypnosis is simply removing the critical faculty that separates the conscious and unconscious minds so that a person has access to their full mental capacity. The doorway to success in hypnosis is the Unconscious Mind. The Unconscious Mind not only holds information that is outside one’s consciousness, it also manages or oversees sensations and body functions. A moment before reading this sentence, you probably were not aware of the feeling of your feet against the floor, or your body alignment on the chair. You have sensations coursing through your body all the time, but you are unaware of them most of the time. In addition to managing all the plethora of sensations, your Unconscious Mind keeps your heart beating, your digestion working, hair and nails growing and your blood circulating… and makes your eyes blink without your conscious awareness. It is amazing how much your Unconscious Mind manages, and all with perfect precision.

“Brains aren’t designed to get results; they go in directions. If you know how the brain works you can set your own directions. If you don’t, then someone else will.” By Richard Bandler, Creator or NLP.

Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and Scientists have begun to realize the full extent of the Mind/Body connection. Not only does information from the Mind affect the body, but there is now scientific evidence that your mental processes, mental states, and mental behaviour affects all the cells in your body all the time.

Hypnosis is a scientifically verified and effective technique that can promote accelerated human change. With Hypnosis, one can create desired changes in behaviour and encourage mental and physical well-being. It is valuable to anyone seeking to resolve specific problems.

Ericksonian Hypnosis is a respectful approach to hypnotherapy and change work. Its indirect approach to hypnosis gives more control to the client. The hypnotherapist acts just like a catalyst to facilitate the client to achieve certain therapeutic outcomes– and not as someone with special powers to hypnotize. Instead, importance is placed on the client’s ability to naturally experience hypnosis for themselves with the hypnotherapist’s guidance.

Milton EricksonEricksonian Hypnosis is named after the father of hypnotherapy, Dr. Milton H. Erickson, M.D, a psychiatrist. Erickson believed that trance is a special state of mind, one of intensified focus. He also viewed trance as a different experience for every person. Erickson pioneered Indirect Hypnosis. Erickson would use certain communication tools– called indirect suggestions– to evoke, mobilize and move patient’s associative process and mental skills in a certain direction so as to achieve certain therapeutic goals. He also pioneered the use of indirect suggestion, hypnotic metaphor, naturalistic trance techniques, unconscious communication and pattern intervention. Erickson’s hypnotherapy approach is recognized as the most effective and successful method for inducing hypnosis, and achieving certain psycho-therapeutic goals.

“You use hypnosis not as a cure but as a means of establishing a favorable climate in which to learn.” by Dr. Milton H. Erickson M.D.

The Hypnotherapist acts only as a valuable partner in the hypnosis process, to provide guidance and direction so as to lengthen and deepen the natural trance state. All hypnosis is ultimately self-hypnosis. Reaching a hypnotic trance state is a relatively simple process, but fully utilizing the power of the hypnotic trance, for facilitating desired change and therapy, generally requires the skill and training of a competent hypnotherapist.

Hypnotherapy uses two different forms in its clinical approach.

suggestion2Hypnotherapy – Suggestion Therapy:

This clinical form of treatment is ideal for helping to cope with such things as self-development, particular fears, doubts, nervousness, smoking, certain habits, some weight-control problems, stress, hypno-healing (working with the body’s immune and healing systems), and so forth.

Hypnotherapy – Analytical Therapy:

rubick cube3This is used for more fundamental or deep-seated problems or issues. This approach aims to find and resolve the underlying rudimentary cause of impediments such as irrational fears, emotional problems, relationship difficulties, psycho-sexual problems, lack of confidence, personality problems, sleeping difficulties, stuttering/stammering, anxiety, inferiority complex, unhappiness, phobias, etc, and most other problems and issues where there is a psychological factor at work. With analytical hypnosis, we can tap into real power to create healing change in our lives, so that we lead better, more complete and self-actualized lives.
